Now back in a managerial role, with the Hammers, David Moyes has already taken his first training session at West Ham, with those who are not away on international duty.

With Moyes first match in charge still over a week away, the Scot has plenty of time to work with the squad and try and turn things around, pretty quickly we hope.

Yesterday, after his first training session, Moyes held a press conference and admitted that he had ‘a point to prove` and a reputation to repair`.

Moyes, 54-years-of-age, has been out of work since leaving Sunderland but is keen to show those who perhaps doubt his appointment that he is the man for the job, remarking to those in attendance,

‘I do have a point to prove. Sometimes you have to repair things and I have a little bit to repair.

‘It’s good for me, I’m back in and it’s what I love doing. I want to do well and want the team to do well.’

‘My ambition is short term. I have to win the games.

‘I want the football to be entertaining. But I want to start defensively. We have to start there and get some clean sheets.

‘First, it’s about winning football games, then it’s about the style,

‘There’s a really strong squad of players here. They certainly shouldn’t be in the position they are in.’

With Moyes only on a six-month contract, he knows that if he can`t make this work his tenure as the Hammers boss will be a short one!
