Plenty of West Ham United fans have been looking back on David Martin’s emotional moment with his father after our 1-0 win against Chelsea.
The 34-year-old moved to the London Stadium from our hated neighbours Millwall in the summer to replace the Spanish shot-stopper Adrian who moved to Liverpool on a free transfer.
Martin’s appearance at Stamford Bridge was his debut and was in tears at the final whistle, and segments of the media were unable to contain themselves as the goalkeeper climbed into the stands to hug his father Alvin.
Was David Martin's emotional debut the best moment of our season?
Yes
No
Aaron Cresswell scored the winning goal three minutes after half-time which was enough to end our seven-game winless run.
In what was a fantastic result for us, Hammers fans showered Martin with praise on social media. One fan said that it was the “moment of the year”, while others said it was a “proud day” and a “special” moment.
Credit where it is due, Martin showed exactly what it should mean to every player when they play at PL level. Fully deserved in his instance in that he never expected to play and has been professional in every aspect of what he does since joining.
