West Ham fans watched on yesterday as their side drew 2-2 with Athletic Bilbao before losing on penalties, and whilst the game and result may not have made for a good watch, ExWHUemployee’s transfer update is worth a read.
After today Pellegrini is even more convinced we need to sign another centre back! They should get an answer on whether long can get a permit soon too as well as exploring other options

Ex has claimed that after watching on as his side drew 2-2 to their Spanish opponents in the Betway Cup, Manuel Pellegrini is even more convinced that he needs to sign a new central defender.
This has been met with a range of views from the irons, some who agree with Pellegrini, some who don’t and some who are just frustrated with how long the issue has been left, seeing as we’re into the final week of the transfer window.
You can see exactly what the Irons had to say here…
CB who can play at CDM and a striker on a free. Job done.

How can a manager of his experience not see this till now? Its been obvious for ages that Reid is passed it, Ogbonna is useless and Cresswell is beyond hope. Worries me we go into a season with only Haller and Hernandez as strikers…massive gamble

It’s the full backs that worry me most but I do think Diop is very raw. He gets caught out of position quite a lot and makes up for it enough with his pace for it not to be noticed. Balbuena is steady and I like him but, if we want to push on, we should be looking for better

Left it a little late didn’t he

Admire the boss, but FFS it’s been clear from 1st friendly that our defence can’t kick its way out of a paper bag. Why leave it so late, I mean “Plenty of time to bed in (NOT)!

We really need a centre back that can see things coming as those goals today could easily have been avoided

WE. NEED. ANOTHER. DECLAN.

The Hammers will be desperate to see the club bring in another couple of players before Thursday’s deadline, and they’re not happy with the look of the squad after the Bilbao penalty defeat.
