A trip to Old Trafford isn`t the ideal fixture I`d pick to get things under way but I guess we`ve got to go there at least once this season so let`s get it done.

But when we get there, what do the record and form books tell us to expect?

Here are a few facts and figures for you to peruse:

1 – Our record against Manchester United, when it comes to the Premier League, isn`t good at Old Trafford. In 21 games the Hammers have lost 17, drawn 2 and won just the 2.

2 – The last time West Ham beat Manchester United in the Premier League was back in May 2016 when a 3-2 win saw us sign off at Upton Park in spectacular fashion.

3 – The last time West Ham won at Old Trafford was back in 2007 when a goal from Carlos Tevez helped the club fight off relegation.

4 – When it comes to opening day fixtures, West Ham have lost 10, a figure, sadly, nobody else can match.

5 – Javier Hernandez will be making his West Ham Premier League debut against a former club. Whilst at Old Trafford Hernandez scored 37 goals in 103 Premier league games.

6 – If Joe Hart can keep a clean sheet then he`ll become the first away goalkeeper to keep three clean-sheets at Old Trafford, in the Premier League.

7 – Manchester United`s new signing, Romelu Lukaku, has scored 7 times in his last 8 games against West Ham.

8 – Jose Mourinho, the Manchester United manager, has never lost an opening day Premier League fixture, winning 7 and drawing 1.
