Manager update will put West Ham transfer hopes in serious jeopardy

|

West Ham travel to Tottenham’s new ground this weekend as we look to throw their Champions League spot challenge under a bus with a win of our own.

It looks set to be a mid-table finish for us this season but, hopefully, next year we can start challenging nearer the top six and put a sustained effort together to get back into European contention.

New signings are going to be needed, then, but one man that it might be hard to get this summer is Joe Allen – if his manager’s comments are anything to go by.

As revealed by the Telegraph, the Hammers are apparently interested in the Welsh international but the former Luton turned Stoke manager seems keen on keeping him at the club.

Quoted by the Stoke Sentinel, he said:

“I believe he’s enjoying his football. He gets a lot of responsibility. We play the way that suits Joe and I think he’s settled.

“We’ll be having those conversations because no-one wants to lose their best players and Joe is definitely in that category.”

Jones is determined to keep him at the Potters, then, and it could well prove to be a real fight to get him.

Indeed, these comments will put our hopes of signing him in jeopardy for sure.
