Long-time West Ham target back on club’s radar as Husillos tipped to make mega-money move – report

Long-time club target Moussa Marega appears to be back on Mario Husillos’ radar, as A Bola have tipped our Sporting Director to complete a mega-money move for the FC Porto forward.

The Portuguese publication have stated that the striker has been categorically ‘sold’ for his €40million (£34.7m) release clause, and suggest that it was the Hammers who activated it – as we are the ‘most likely’ destination for the Mali international having been outlined as his ‘next home’.

They do not say for certain that it was us who activated his release clause, though, but hint at the matter by alluding to our long-standing interest in the 28-year-old and that he would be joining a Premier League side this summer – which happens to be his dream competition to one day play in.

Marega told SFR Sport earlier in the year: “For me, I think this is perhaps the best time to try my luck elsewhere, to live a new experience, to know a new championship, the Premier League, for example.”

Porto had rejected our advances when we tried to sign Marega last summer, which has proved to be beneficial for the Liga NOS outfit, as the 18-cap international has struck 21 goals and assisted eleven this term across all competitions.

He is not Porto’s leading ‘scorer in the Portuguese top-flight, though, as Tiquinho Soares has fired home 15 in 27 games, compared to Marega’s 11 in 28.
