Word On The Tweet

‘Like a new signing’ – Lots of West Ham fans were saying the same thing regarding Gold’s ‘decent’ tweet

Andriy Yarmolenko showed glimpses of quality in the early stages of his West Ham United career, however, injury robbed him and us of what could have been an exceptional debut season.

Having signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer for a reported £17.5million fee (per Sky Sports), all the early signs appeared to be suggesting that he would be a hit for us and that he would be a brilliant addition to the squad.

10 appearances later and he was on the sidelines for the rest of the campaign after rupturing his Achilles tendon against Tottenham Hotspur in October and being forced to watch all his new team-mates put in the hard graft on the field from the stands week in and week out.

However, it appears he could be about to get his second chance and show everyone why we pay him £115,000-a-week (Spotrac).

David Gold took to Twitter as he occasionally does to answer fan questions and provided everyone with an update regarding Yarmolenko.

He stated: “I am confident he will be back for preseason training. dg.”

That could be great news for us as the Ukraine international will feel like a new signing once again and if he is able to provide us with the performances he showed during the start of his time at the London Stadium, then we should all be in for a treat next season.

And, it would seem a number of fans shared the same opinion when reading the tweet Gold sent out. Many of them claimed it would be like a new signing, whilst others could not wait to see him back on the pitch. Here are some of their reactions to the news…
