Leicester City 0 West Ham 2 – Hammers Premier League Status All But Assured

With two Premier League fixtures still to play, West Ham United appear to have done enough to not be sucked into the relegation battle, a battle that saw Stoke City relegated yesterday.

Heading to the King Power Stadium, to take on Leicester City, the Hammers knew that a win would be virtually enough to secure their top-flight status for another season.

On what was the hottest day of the year, so far, the Hammers controlled the game and, courtesy of a goal in each half, secured the three points needed.

The opening goal scored in the 34th minute, came from Joao Mario who provided a neat finish from a Marko Arnautovic assist, thereby easing the pressure being felt by the vociferous Hammers support.

The second goal, in the sixty-fourth minute, was the highlight of the game with Mark Noble scoring with a superb volley that gave Hamer, in the Leicester City goal, no chance.

2-0 to the good, the Hammers faithful celebrated in the away end, the gloom had been lifted and now we can all look to finish the season with a flourish and then look forward to next season.
