Although he`s now thirty-eight years of age, there`s no doubting that the goalkeeping skills of Jussi Jaaskelainen have kept us in many a game.

However, the Finnish keeper is in the last term of a two year deal and, reading between the lines, desperately wants to carry on playing for somebody he`s respected for many a year, Sam Allardyce.

Speaking about his contract situation, Jussi has remarked to the media,

“My contract is until the end of the season and that`s what my aim is at the moment. But I want to go on as long as I can.”

“The goalkeeping coach and backroom staff are fantastic and look after me pretty well.”

“They know my needs and give me one or two extra days off now and then.”

“I like to work with Big Sam and like the way he brought science to the game. When I joined him at Bolton we were a championship side – and he hired people to make sure we were looking after ourselves and preparing properly for the match on a Saturday.”

“Experience as a goalkeeper is important – and the main aim is to be consistent.”

Well Jussi has certainly been that and I`d be absolutely amazed if West Ham United Football Club didn`t reward him with, at least, a years` extension to his contract.

How about you?
