West Ham have confirmed that Martin Samuelsen has had his loan spell with FK Haugesund extended until 31st December 2019.
Despite coming with bundles of promise when he joined from Manchester City in 2015, Samuelsen’s time with the Hammers has been underwhelming.
This saw the Norwegian return to his home town club, where he will now see out the Eliteserian campaign:
Good luck to @samuelseen who is extending his loan spell with Haugesund until the end of the Norwegian season https://t.co/2iUJFIaZRT

He did relatively well in the first half of Haugesund’s campaign, scoring twice in 12 league matches, adding another four goals in the Norwegian Cup.
Though many West Ham fans are confused about the purpose of allowing the 22-year-old to head back to Norway, considering the disparity in quality between Elitiserien and the Premier League.
Failed loan moves at the likes of VVV Venlo and Burton Albion have indicated to many that the Norwegian probably won’t make it at West Ham – so suggestions have been made that West Ham should have sold him, rather than facilitating another loan.
His contract with the Hammers expires next summer, with it seeming increasingly likely it won’t be renewed, which would see him leave for free.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the loan move, including posts from confused West Ham fans, can be seen below:
Maybe the club are just running down his contract. I suspect they’d like to sell but if there are no takers…
