The victory against Fulham was most welcome, although it must be said that watching how poor Fulham were it`s not surprising we managed to win and that Martin Jol was subsequently sacked.

The win gave us a bit of breathing space as far as being associated with the relegation pack goes, but the fixtures are coming along thick and fast at this time of year and, in my opinion, it would be a complete travesty if we were to beat Fulham and then not get a result against Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening.

The aim before the Fulham games was to get six points and that must still be the objective, despite Palace being boosted by the presence of a new manager in the shape of Tony Pulis.

I`m not even sure that a draw would be deemed a decent result, it really is a case of three points being a must.

Speaking ahead of the game, Sam Allardyce has re-iterated the points I`ve made, remarking to the media,

‘There is still pressure on me because I put pressure on myself,’

“It is just a small contribution to help the situation we’re in at the moment. We’ve got to progress now. We can’t sit back and not try to win at Crystal Palace. If we can’t win, we’ve certainly got to get a result.”

‘They are below us at this moment in time and Saturday will have been a waste if we lose to Crystal Palace, because they’ll gain three points on us.’

Exactly, a draw might be considered, by Sam, to be a result but to me it is not, it`s got to be a win we`re going for!
