After a poor run of results in pre-season, coupled with two defeats in our first two games, speculation has surfaced that Slaven Bilic`s job could be in jeopardy.

Although the board have backed the manager well this summer, bringing in Pablo Zabaletaa, Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez, our associates at the The Mirror are suggesting that the board are already scouring the market for a successor to Bilic.

The next few games could prove to be the acid test as far as the reign of Bilic goes. Tomorrow the Hammers are away to Cheltenham in the Carabao Cup, before back-to-back Premier League games against two newly promoted sides in Newcastle (a) and Huddersfield (h).

Today, Bilic held his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Cheltenham and the journalists in attendance probed Bilic on the speculation, with the Croatian remaking,

“It’s part of the job so pressure is always there’.

Surely the board are not thinking of axing Bilic so soon into the season, are they?
