“I was wrong” – West Ham-linked ace admits mistake as Hammers face set back

Mario Husillos may have identified Manuel Pellegrini’s next striker in Edin Dzeko, but Calciomercato understands that our offer is unlikely to appeal to AS Roma.

The Italian football news site are claiming that we have offered the Stadio Olimpico outfit €10million (£8.6m) to sign the two-time Premier League winner, as his future in the capital continues to be in doubt.

Dzeko’s time with the Giallorossi particularly hangs in the balance right now following his dressing room fight with Stephan El Shaarawy, when the Bosnia-Herzegovina captain let out his frustrations on losing to SPAL on his teammate before the international break.

He has since apologised to the Serie A side for his actions, with Corriere dello Sport quoting the 33-year-old saying: “I was wrong! Now we are all united, we can still go up in the rankings.”

The Roma assembly will now decide what to do with the striker – whose contract expires in the summer of 2020 – upon their return from Qatar and discussions with interim manager Claudio Ranieri.

It is unlikely, however, that they will decide to accept our reported €10m offer, as Calciomercato understands that the Giallorossi are demanding at least twice that for the 101-cap ace. It is also suggested that Roma could opt to price any interested party out of the market altogether and keep Dzeko for the final year of his deal before releasing a then 34-year-old.
