West Ham have fought valiantly to find consistency under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini and, despite some positive signs, there is still work to be done.
The Hammers improved their attacking lines significantly during the summer transfer window by drafting in Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, providing further spark alongside Marko Arnautovic, but the lack of a recognised centre-forward is an issue.
According to The Daily Mail, Pellegrini has identified this problem and is seeking a January swoop for Marseille forward Kostas Mitroglou – who the Ligue 1 side are likely to be open to offloading as they look to reduce their wage bill.
Formerly of Fulham, the 30-year-old did not have a decent record during his previous time in English football and West Ham supporters were quick to make it clear that they are not keen on a deal that would bring the Greece international back to London.
