Angelo Ogbonna is a divisive figure among the London Stadium backline, and West Ham United fans have been reacting on social media to a suggestion made by the club relating to the Italian.
It’s a rather basic claim to make by the Hammers’ official Twitter account, when it shared the suggestion that Ogbonna “really loves football”, along with a clip of the centre-back running through a brief series of training exercises at the warm-weather training camp in Marbella.

Now, to be a professional footballer, it would have been more noteworthy if he did not enjoy the game, like former Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who famously said back in 2010 that the sport was merely a job to him, but the post still managed to cause a rise from a few of the fanbase back in East London.
That’s not unexpected, in fairness, as Ogbonna does split opinions at the London Stadium with his on-again, off-again form that has played a part in some successes on the pitch and a fair share of down moments, most recently that defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
No surprise, then, that some fans noted the following in relation to the Italian and the club’s post…
Good considering it’s his job
