News broke this afternoon that West Ham United and David Moyes had parted company.
After steering the club to safety, ensuring the Hammers maintained their Premier League status, the board decided not to reward Moyes with a new deal, on the back of his recently expired short-term deal.
David Sullivan, speaking on the official site, Click Here had a few words to say about the decision remarking,
“When David and his team arrived, it was the wish of both parties that the focus be only on the six months until the end of the season, at which point a decision would be made with regards to the future.
“We feel that it is right to move in a different direction. We aim to appoint a high-calibre figure who we feel will lead the club into an exciting future for our loyal supporters within the next 10 days.”
It remains to be seen who this high-calibre figure might be.
But how has the decision to remove Moyes been received by the Hammers faithful?
Starting us of is Geoff Peters who used his Twitter account to remark:
Lets face it, #Moyes isn’t the dynamic attack minded manager many of us are craving, but we don’t have a dynamic attack minded board who will invest in a decent squad, so we’re not gong to attract the manager we want.
The best we can expect every season is competing to survive!— ⚒⚒⚒Iron in my blood. (@geoffpeters224) May 7, 2018
An interesting post, with the board coming in for criticism.
Another post we uncovered comments on the fact that Moyes was axed on the same day as a former Hammers manager Sam Allardyce, with the post reading:
I did say in December that #Moyes and #Allardyce were managers whose time has passed in the premier league. Hodgson did very well but he’s another who will not finish next season as well. Fresh young managers are needed to take these teams forward and I’m not surprised…

Although another post felt that Moyes, after the job he’d done had been hard done by, adding,
I can’t help but feel sorry for both Moyes and Allardyce… it felt like they were brought in to save their respective teams from relegation…? Now it’s all about their style… Moyes especially deserved at least another season, no such thing as loyalty ever in football #moyes

A view shared by this social network poster,
Get a job, achieve what is asked of you, get sacked, big pay off. Thanks for coming #bigsam #moyes

Although perhaps in jest another we stumbled upon reads,
All set for #Allardyce back to West Ham and #Moyes back to Everton

But what is your opinion?
Do you feel Moyes was hard done by or was it time for a change and a time to prepare the club for the future?
