It appears that may be just the case.

Whilst the transfer window was open, there seemed every possibility that Diafra Sakho would leave West Ham United.

In fact, Sakho was so keen to leave West Ham that he flew to Rennes to orchestrate, unsuccessfully, we might add, a deadline day deal.

However, it seems that the striker may have had second thought, either that or the Hammers want to tie him to a contract where they can get some cash for him, because lurking in the Sunday press, in particular the Sun on Sunday was the astonishing suggestion that West Ham registered a new deal with the Football Association on September 11.

The deal, according to our reference source, is a two-year option that was in his existing contract which also gave the striker improved terms.

But, with Sakho seemingly behind Javier Hernandez, Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll in the striking pecking order, are we really expected to expect that the striker will be happy to remain with West Ham United and play a bit-part role.

Your thoughts on the above, in our comments facility beneath this article would be most welcome.
