Having started his career with Shrewsbury Town, Joe Hart, wearing the Hammers armband, would have been pleased with he reception he got from the home side.

However, the keeper wouldn`t have been pleased with the performance those in front of him gave in what was a very poor display, a display so bad we couldn`t have moaned if we`d been knocked out of the FA Cup.

Speaking to the BBC after the game Hart was honest enough to admit that the Hammers got out of jail today, remarking,

‘100%. We were terrible today and Shrewsbury were really good.

‘It’s a tough place to come. We didn’t play well. We had three games in a week and there were opportunities for the lads, including myself.

‘I can’t blame fatigue. There was some terrible football played today and we lost a lot of battles.

‘This is where I grew up, my home town. It gave me my opportunity in football. It’s very special. It was a nice moment but in the game I wanted to win.’

Honesty is always the best policy.
