Hammers Summer Signing Number Six Isn’t Anderson

|

After signing Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmalenko last week, we hinted, in an article Click Here, there was a possibility that the midfielder, Anderson, would be our sixth signing of what is turning into a very productive summer transfer window.

We also went on to suggest there was a possibility that the club could make a seventh or even an eighth signing.

Well, the Hammers have made a sixth signing of the summer, but it wasn’t, as we predicted, Anderson.

Instead, the club has announced that they have brought another defender to the club, in the shape of Fabian Balbuena.

Balbuena, a Paraguayan, has joined the Hammers on a three-year deal from the Brazilian top-flight side, Corinthians.

The player, who has seven international caps, arrives for an undisclosed fee and is naturally excited at joining the club with the player quoted as having remarked to the media and as reported by the BBC

“I’m really excited for this new challenge and my target is to meet the demands of the Premier League.

“Obviously to be at West Ham is an extra motivation and I want to do my best to help the team.”

Now we readily admit that we know very little about the centre-back and we also accept that signings from South America, when it comes to the Premier League, can be a little hit-and-miss, but on this occasion, we’re trusting Manuel Pellegrini has got this one right.

Exciting times are ahead for the Hammers this season and I can’t wait, how about you?
