Back in the summer, when optimism levels were high, following a summer transfer market splurge the likes of which we’d not seen before, one signing particularly intrigued me.
When the club splashed out a huge sum of cash to bring the young centre-back, Issa Diop, to the club, the 21-year-old came to the Premier League as a raw talent but one tipped to have a huge future in the game.
Although Diop is still learning his trade, it appears his performances, so far, have been noted by other clubs.
According to the news vehicle, the Daily Mail, one such club are Paris Saint-Germain with our quoted source implying that the outstanding club in French football could be set to offer the Hammers as much as £50 million for the defender.
If that is to be the case, it remains to be seen, considering every player has a price, whether the Hammers would be prepared to sell or fight to hang on to the talented youngster.
Personally, I hope it is the latter of the two, Diop has a huge future in the game and if West Ham does have serious ambitions of gate-crashing the elite of the Premier league then Diop is the kind of player we should be looking to nurture, value and keep amidst our ranks.
