Hammers Midfielder Injury Lay-Off Comes As No Surprise To This Wise Old Sage

|

In hindsight, perhaps acquiring the services of Jack Wilshere, in the summer transfer window, wasn’t the wisest of moves.

Well, that’s my view.

Although, I’ll readily accept that the former England international is, on his day, an excellent player, the fact that he has an injury record as long as your arm was always going to cause concerns, plus the fact that Arsenal were willing to let the playmaker move on.

Today, we sit here with the news having broken that Wilshere, after picking up and ankle injury ahead of the trip to play Everton, and as confirmed by the BBC, faces a six-week spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on the affected ankle.

Just four games into the Premier League season and we’re already without the player who some saw as being crucial for our ongoing development.

Can the situation improve down the line?

Possibly, or maybe probably, but you wouldn’t put your mortgage on it would you!

Clearly, all that glitters is not gold!

Perhaps, West Ham United might have been wiser to consider other options rather than somebody who might rival Andy Carroll for time spent in the treatment room.

The above might seem all doom and gloom but that’s my opinion.
