Hammers Linked With Ukrainian International Striker

|

If the media speculation is correct, the Hammers summer spending spree could be set to continue.

The news source, Sky Sports, are reporting that West Ham United have made a bid for the Ukrainian striker – Andriy Yarmolenko.

Yarmolenko, 28-years-of-age, is currently on the books of the Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund and the magnitude of the bid submitted is said to be in the region of £17.5 million.

If Borussia Dortmund are open to a sale then they’ll make a loss on a player they paid £23 million to Dynamo Kiev last summer.

In his one season in the Bundesliga, Yarmolenko made 30 appearances, 9 of which were from the bench and scored just 6 goals.

A seasoned international, with 76 caps for Ukraine, the possible addition of Yarmalenko to the West Ham squad is an interesting proposition.

But, I can’t help but admit that his goals-per-game ration concerns me.

Would he be able to make the transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League?

Would he bring something to the club we don’t already have?

Two questions we’d like your views on.
