Hammers Linked With The Acquisition Of A Striker

|

After securing the services of the Fulham defender, Ryan Fredericks, on a four-year deal and also on a free transfer, could the Hammers be set to make their second signing of the summer transfer window?

According to one source that could very well be the case.

Our associates over at the tabloid publication, the Mirror, are inferring that a striker could be Manuel Pellegrini’s next target.

The striker in question being Salomon Rondon.

Rondon, 28-years-of-age, is available for £16 million as his current club, West Bromwich Albion, look to reshape their squad following relegation from the Premier League back in May.

However, it’s also being reported that West Ham are not the only Premier League showing interest with two other London clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, also said to be interested.

Rondon could be a decent acquisition for the Hammers, he’s strong, powerful in the air and has a bit of pace about him.

But, you have to ask yourself whether he’d be an improvement on anybody else we currently have at the club.

Perhaps the closest player, style-wise, is Andy Carroll, but we all know how difficult Carroll finds it to say fit for a complete season.

Personally, I’d give Rondon a try, if he’s given the right service he has the potential to get amongst the goals.

As for the price, it seems reasonable enough don’t you think?
