Hammers Linked With Swoop For £17 Million Striker

|

If the media has got its fact right and, at the moment, we’ve no reason to disbelieve them, the Hammers look set to have a new striker on their books before the summer transfer window slams shut.

According to the BBC, West Ham United are set to add the Arsenal striker, Lucas Perez, to the squad.

Perez, 39-years-of-age, hasn’t made the anticipated impact at the Emirates Stadium and spent the whole of last season on loan with the Spanish side, Deportivo La Coruna.

Arsenal, when signing the player back in 2016, paid Deportivo a sum of £17.1 million, a considerable fee.

If, as we expect, the deal does get completed then Perez will provide striking competition for Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez.

But, perhaps we should point out that whilst on loan with Deportivo last season, Perez wasn’t exactly prolific, scoring just 8 goals in 35 appearances, although it must also be stated that the Spanish side didn’t have the best of seasons.

Perhaps with better service, he’ll soon be hitting the net and become a fans favourite.
