Hammers Linked With City Teenager To Replace Injured Lanzini

|

Lurking in the tabloid press this morning is the inference that Manuel Pellegrini is set to contact his former club, Manchester City, to bring a talented young attacking midfielder to the squad.

According to the red-top publication, the Sun, Pellegrini wants Brahim Diaz to be wearing our famous claret and blue shirt this coming season.

Diaz, just 18-years-of-age, is seen as a short-term replacement for the injured Manuel Lanzini who, courtesy of a bad knee injury picked up in the Argentine training camp, is expected to miss the first six-months of the new season.

Diaz, a Spaniard, would benefit from the additional playing time and our source utilises some quotes from an unnamed Manchester City source, to illustrate the point, with the quotes reading;

“Manuel is a huge admirer of Brahim and would like to take him following the horrible injury to Lanzini.

“He brought Brahim to the club from Malaga when he was about 14 and has been compared to Lionel Messi.”

If that’s the case, despite his tender years, I say proceed with the loan deal and let’s see just what Brahim Diaz is capable of when given the opportunity. It’ll either be a success or it won’t, but we’ll never know until we see how the lad fares.
