Hammers Keen to Extend Rice Deal

|

On Sunday, you really had to feel for Declan Rice when his error allowed Arsenal to go 2-1 up and then subsequently kick-on to win 4-1.

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, 19-year-old Rice would have cleared the incoming cross from Aaron Ramsey.

But, on this particular occasion he, inexplicably, chose to duck under it surprising Joe Hart, thereby allowing the cross from Ramsey to drift untouched into the net.

The expression on Rice’s face told the full story, the youngster was mortified at his error.

But, there’s no doubting the teenager has a great future in the game, hopefully at West Ham United.

Today, the news vehicle, the Standard, is reporting that the Hammers are keen to tie the Republic of Ireland defender to a new deal.

With the fight against relegation from the Premier League ongoing, it has been reported that West Ham have put an embargo on all contract negotiations.

However, our source is reporting that regardless of what division West Ham United may be playing in next season, the aim is to tie Declan Rice to the club beyond his current contract expiry date of 2020, such has been his rate of development this season.
