West Ham have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson. It was thought Watson would sign for Middlesborough after a fee was agreed with Palace. However, Watson would prefer to stay in the capital, and West Ham may yet be his destination.

The 23-year old’s contract runs out in the summer, and Palace are looking to get some money for him now as opposed to losing him for free at the end of his contract. The fee is believed to be in the region of £1.5 million.

Watson has been highly-rated for some time, and would be a good addition to Zola’s squad. He has stagnated at Palace, and could prove his worth in teh Premiership.
