Back in the summer, once it had been decided by the West Ham United hierarchy that David Moyes was not the long-term solution, the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini was seen as the right thing to do.
After all, we were taking on board a manager who had a good reputation and had tasted Premier League success with Manchester City.
But, after four defeats from our opening four games, the social media is alive with comments that suggest the Hammers could have made a huge mistake in appointing the Chilean:
Such a bad appointment

Avant Grant all over again bring back Bilic

Surely, that’s an unfair comparison!
However, returning to the axing of David Moyes, it seems the Scotsman, according to some, should have remained at the club:
Sacking David Moyes was an error.

And some are hankering after the very manager that David Moyes replaced:
I miss Bilic – at least he understood the fans.

And some want to go back even further:
Sack him and bring back big Sam I would sooner play that way than the garbage what’s being dished up can’t see us winning a game at the moment

Now that would cause ructions amongst the Hammers support.
But, perhaps everyone is being a little harsh in criticising Pellegrini and suggesting that now is the time for the Chilean to show he has the qualities for the job:
“The Boss” needs to have a serious look at himself and the set up formation and style we play.
Said before and I’ll say again for the 100th time …. a “World Class Manager” proves himself in the bad times ….. not just the good times.
Type to change it up MP ⚒⚒⚒— ⚒ Paul McMahon ⚒ (@Macca11Paul) September 1, 2018
However, did the Hammers make the mistake of making too many changes to the squad this summer:
Was happy when i seen MP was going to be our new manager but then started worrying at the amount of players the club was buying. It didn't work at Sunderland and it ain't gonna work at west ham. Long season ahead i fear.
— wayne jones (@JonesWaynej) September 2, 2018
And lastly, perhaps everyone s acting in haste, perhaps patience is something we should all be exercising:
To all the west Ham fans mocking pellegrini, he is trying to establish his own playing style…It will take time. Show some patience..

But, then again, patience and instant success are not words that normally sit well together in the hurly-burly environment of the Premier League, are they?
