West Ham will have to make do without Valon Behrami for the rest of the current season because of an injury picked up against Man City last Sunday.

Behrami, 23, had caught his studs in the Upton Park pitch and twisted his knee, forcing the Swiss international to be carried off on a stretcher in the first half of the 1-0 win.

After being taken for an MRI scan, it was revealed that though Behrami had not suffered any break or fracture in his knee, it is not yet known exactly how long he will be sidelined for.

Speaking to Swiss magazine Blick, Behrami said the following:
‘The season has gone for me. I must now wait 48 hours until I know whether or not cruciate ligament surgery is required. Bad, very bad.’
