The Hammers quest to bring some much-needed reinforcements to the squad could be set to come to fruition.

According to the news source, the Express the acquisition of Jonjo Shelvey is moving a lot closer.

Our referenced source is reporting that Newcastle and West Ham United have held talks relating to a £12 million deal for the 25-year-old.

The only sticking point, according to our source, is that although Newcastle United are keen to do a deal for the player, they won`t commit to a sale until they have sourced a replacement for the midfielder.

Shelvey appears to be keen on a move back to his native London where he established himself as a decent midfielder whilst on the books of Charlton Athletic.

Here at Vital West Ham we`ll keep an eye out for any developments and report back as deemed necessary.
