The season-long loan deal whereby Reece Oxford has been sent to play in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach remains a puzzling one.

The loan deal was supposed to see the youngster get some regular first team action, however, Oxford has made just the one start for his temporary club.

That statistic fuelled rumours that West Ham United might opt to end the loan deal early and bring the player back to London.

However, that might not happen, in fact the exactly the opposite could.

Lurking in the pages of the German news source Kicker, is the insinuation that despite not giving Oxford the chance to play regularly, Borussia Monchengladbach are actually looking to keep hold of Oxford.

According to our referenced source, Borussia`s sporting director, Max Eberl, is quoted a shaving remarked that his club are in talks with West Ham United about buying the player in a permanent deal.

Surely not!
