Rob Green is showing the attitude as he is looking to be the no.1 for England at the world cup. He’s not happy to just ‘make up the numbers’.

West Ham’s Green has told The Daily Mirror that he believes that he will be the England no.1 at the world cup finals: ‘I am thinking about going to the World Cup as England’s No.1.

‘There is no point turning up if you think you’re going to be understudy. There is no point turning up not to play.’

Green has the right mentality, and it is a mentality that Fabio Capello wants – the Italian wants people with a strong, positive attitude and the attitude shown is a strong one and that of a winner, again something Capello wants.

Club form will count for a lot and the 29-year-old knows this is the case, so this is something that he can ‘control’ and controlling how he plays for West Ham is in his destiny, the rest is down to Capello and if Green is the best he will be the no.1.

To be honest, although I feel he ‘could’ be in the world cup squad I am not convinced it will be as the no.1…
