While we’ve already secured the signatures of seven players, it seems that our summer spending is destined to continue as we approach the start of the new season. Genoa’s Diego Laxalt is the latest name to be linked with a move to the London Stadium.
According to the Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, we’re interested in the services of Uruguay’s World Cup star, although we’re not devoid of competition. The article that states that Everton are also interested in the services of the full-back, who is allegedly available for a fee of €20M.
Without question, although we may not require the services of another left-back, his arrival would significantly enhance the quality of our options. Moreover, when considering the hyper-inflated nature of the transfer market, a fee of €20M isn’t unreasonable for a player of his calibre.
Personally, although it could be perceived as somewhat indulgent, Laxalt would be a solid addition to the team.
Here’s how other West Ham supporters have responded to the speculation on Twitter.

Would be a great signing. Probably see profit if moving Cresswell on.

It would be funny to get Laxalt to watch the meltdown from Everton fans as we get another "target" of theirs. But on a serious note he is a quality player that can play anywhere along the left hand side of the pitch. We are making serious moves under Pellegrini
