With news of the injury blow to West Ham United’s Andriy Yarmolenko following the Achilles injury he picked up in the last game against Tottenham Hotspur, the 28-year-old player has now undergone surgery and the expectation is he’ll be out of action for the next six months.
The £17.5million signing from Borussia Dortmund over the summer sustained the injury of the first half of the game against Spurs and was taken from the pitch in the 40th minute and replaced by Grady Diangana.
Andriy Yarmolenko’s has undergone surgery to repair a damaged Achilles tendon and is expected to be sidelined for around six months.
I will personally let him know that we will all support him through this difficult time and we all wish him a speedy recovery. dg @Yarmolenko_9 pic.twitter.com/cUfp9Rpwji— David Gold (@davidgold) October 22, 2018
The Ukrainian international had made six starting appearances for Manuel Pellegrini so far in 2018/19, along with a further four showings from the bench and he’d returned three goals.
Club co-chairman David Gold took to his own social media account the other day to react to the news and he revealed that he would be meeting with the player personally to pass on everyone’s good wishes to him as he begins the process of rehabilitation and then building his fitness back up, and it certainly went over well with a frustrated fan base.
The timing could not be worse but hey we push on. Get back soon Yarma you are well liked by us lot ????

Really sad to hear a player is out for so long for any team, hope he recovers soon enough

Does this mean more investment in January as we are clearly lacking in some areas… Also it would be nice if we could get this Rice situation sorted so we can all have a nice Christmas. The lad is a proven key player so let’s just pay him what he’s worth ay?
