Are West Ham looking towards the north of the border to bolster their first team squad for next season.

One Sunday tabloid certainly seems to think so with the inference that we`re going head-to-head with Queens Park Rangers to lure the Glasgow Celtic player Victor Wanyama to Upton Park.

Wanyama moved to Parkhead last season for a bargain fee of £900,000 but has expressed a wish, even though he has three years of his current contract to run, to try his luck in the Premier League.

Primarily a holding midfielder, Wanyama can also slot in as a central defender and his versatility could prove useful although it is thought that if Celtic are willing to sell the fee could be as high as £7 million.
