It never rains, it pours – so they say. That’s certainly the West Ham way as of late, it seems. Not only did we lose to Tottenham over the weekend, but we also lost one of our best players, too, in Andriy Yarmolenko.
He started the season pretty poorly, lacking the physicality and quality for the Premier League, but Mauricio Pellegrini quickly moved to give him a few chances, and he duly delivered on his promise.
The Ukranian began to offer quality going forward, and just as he was beginning to find his feet, they’ve cruelly been taken away from him – quite literally.
Unsurprisingly, this hasn’t gone down too well with West Ham fans online, with plenty of supporters taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations at the news.
As they note, injuries and West Ham have become somewhat synonymous with one another over the years, and Yarmolenko joins a long list of absentees.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
Cor, 3 new signings all injured. Ridiculous

Our injury luck is unbelievable. One of our best summer signings and this happens. Hopefully others will now step up to the plate. Lanzini back, a bit of January business..??
