Vladimir Coufal gives West Ham more reason for excitement – opinion

|

Vladimir Coufal gave West Ham United plenty of reasons to be excited by his arrival during our 3-0 victory over Leicester City.

During that game, he completed three tackles, three clearances and three interceptions, while winning two aerial duels and making two key passes.

It was a brilliant debut for the 28-year-old, who didn’t look out of place at all in his new surroundings, having signed from Slavia Prague.

He was among far more familiar company during his latest impressive display, as he helped Czech Republic secure a 2-1 win against Israel in the UEFA Nations League.

They were gifted an early lead by Joel Abu Hanna’s calamitous own goal, before Matej Vydra added the Czechs’ second of the match, meaning Eran Zahavi’s second-half goal wasn’t enough for Israel to take anything away from the game.

Are you excited to see how Coufal fares at West Ham?

Yes

No

While he wasn’t involved in any of the match’s goals, Coufal did impress once again, operating in a back-four on this occasion – with Tomas Soucek another Hammer that performed well during the game.

Looking specifically at Coufal, he was solid defensively, completing three of the four tackles that he attempted, while also making two clearances and three interceptions. In addition, he won five of the six aerial duels he competed in.

Going forward, the 28-year-old completed two dribbles, while also making one key pass. All of this offers another indication that the full-back is capable of helping out at both ends of the pitch – this will be especially important if David Moyes continues using him as a wing-back.

All in all, Coufal has been very impressive since joining the Hammers, so our fans can look forward to seeing how he will perform for the club moving forward.
