Money really is tight at some clubs.

The books are having to be balanced as the financial fair play rules kick in and it is leading to clubs searching what could be classified as the ‘bargain bucket` for new players.

One such player in the ‘bargain bucket` is Carlton Cole.

Released by West Ham United, at the end of the season, Cole is a free agent and is attracting attention from Stoke City with the new incumbent of the managers seat, Mark Hughes, looking to boost his squad but without spending big.

Will Cole end up in the Potteries?

It remains to be seen!
