Andy Carroll isn’t going to be involved for West Ham this weekend in the premier league but the strikers working hard to improve his fitness for his return against Everton.

It still amazes so many that Carroll’s red card against Swansea stood!

Incredibly it did though and that meant a three-match suspension, which will be completed this weekend. When the rest of the West Ham squad returned to England from the Dubai trip Carroll, and teammate Joey O’Brien, stayed behind to continue fitness training.

He continued to work hard to get himself ready for his Hammers return.

Assistant boss Neil McDonald explained the situation to the official website: ‘Andy stayed in Dubai as a continuation of his rehabilitation, really. He’s worked very, very hard to get himself fit and he’s made an impact since coming back.

‘Unfortunately he got sent-off against Swansea, and we still can’t believe that happened. He’s still got one more game of his suspension against Southampton, so we decided to leave him out there with the rehab fitness coach Eduardo. He was there with to do some work in the sun, and Andy has come back ready and raring to go for Everton.’

It made sense to keep Carroll, and O’Brien, in Dubai for a little longer really didn’t it as warm weather training will benefit them more than the cold, wind and rain of London.
