From hero to zero!

Well not quite, but the optimism levels that reached a peak when Andy Carroll made his debut for West Ham, at the start of his loan period, have somewhat dropped off due to his problems with injuries.

Doubts about bringing the striker to West Ham on a permanent basis are rising as he reflects on a record of just one claret and blue goal, but those doors of the last chance saloon are set to swing open again with the news that Carroll could be back in first team action by the end of the month with Big Sam remarking to the media,

“I hope it will be no more than three weeks before Andy is playing again.”

“He`s not in full training yet but he`s due to start running this week.”

“The trouble is that because he`s such a big lad he`s a bit more delicate when he`s coming back from a knee ligament injury and we want to make sure he is properly fit and stays that way when he comes back.”

“He`s missed a huge chunk of games with the two injuries he`s had since he joined us.”

“Andy has only got one goal for us so far and has to score more.”

Now, is that a thinly veiled threat or just an honest assessment?
