The career of Reece Oxford hasn`t quite gone as we`d all hoped.

The youngster stole the show when he played in the opening fixture against Arsenal a few years ago but his progression seems to have faltered, or perhaps that`s just because, perhaps, we expected too much of the player.

This season, Oxford should have been spending the whole season at the German club, Borussia Monchengladbach, however a lack of first-team opportunities has seen that loan spell length questioned with speculation abound that Oxford is due back at West Ham United in mid-December.

But Slaven Bilic is optimistic that Oxford, an England U20 international, can rediscover that special touch that separated him from others of his age group, with Slaven remarking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the difficult trip to play Burnley, at Turf Moor, this weekend,

“He`s got that potential and he needed to somewhere to play regularly in a good league so he went to Monchengladbach, which is a good club in a good league.

“Unfortunately he didn`t play regularly so far, but hopefully he will do and he will play well and come back and show the quality and form to become a regular player for West Ham.’

Let`s hope that is exactly how the scenario develops.
