Beckham For Hammers

It seems David Beckham is being linked with just about every club in the country at the moment.

Since Real Madrid said the ex-England skipper is available for transfer, the list of ‘contenders’ grows by the day. Bolton, Wigan, Newcastle, Man City … and now West Ham.

Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is certainly a target of Alan Pardew, and although the gaffa would not be drawn on specific targets, he is wary of rushing into the market.

Pardew: ‘All I would say is that it is a tricky window – there are teams always in a fight for something whether they are too near the bottom or near the top.

‘Birmingham, for example, a few years ago made some good moves in January and managed to claw themselves out of a difficult situation.’
