West Ham United have confirmed that their Senegalese striker, Diafra Sakho, has left the club.

The 28-year-old has left the London Stadium to ply his trade in La Ligue 1 with the French side, Rennes.

As is sometimes the case, the fee involved in the transfer is described as being undisclosed.

Sakho leaves West Ham United having made 71 games and scoring on 24 occasions.

After joining West Ham from Metz, back in 2014, Sakho equalled a Premier League record when he scored in his first six starts for the club.

However, his relationship with the Hammers support was somewhat soured when, back in the summer, he tried to orchestrate a move away from the club, a move that has now come to fruition.

With Sakho now gone, it remains to be seen whether West Ham, before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, will bring in another striker.
