The news that broke yesterday confirming that Michail Antonio would not play for West Ham United Football Club again this season, was unfortunate to say the least.

The reason for his absence for the rest of the season was described as a significant injury, although nobody has had the decency to explain exactly what the problem is, although we suspect it is hamstring related.

However, the good folk of the Guardian, are reporting that the injury has also had an impact on a separate issue.

Our referenced source is running with the suggestion that new contract talks, relating to the 27-year-old, have since the injury was confirmed, have stalled. Seemingly, Antonio was looking to secure a deal that would see him earn a cool £70,000 a week.

Let`s hope the injury and the confusion over the new deal are both dealt with a positive outcome forthcoming.
