According to reports coming from West Ham the long-running Carlos Tevez saga will soon be resolved, with Sheffield United to receive around £10 million spread over five years.

The matter has been rumbling on since Sheffield United were relegated after finishing three points behind the Hammers in 2007. The Blades have been looking for anything up to £60 million in compensation, but look to have settled for a much lower figure.

West Ham have always maintained their innocence, but with the Chairman looking to sell the matter needs to be settled to allow the club to move on.

Gianfranco Zola is pleased that the matter is to be put to bed:

‘I hope it will be resolved soon and I am confident it will be.

‘It’s looking good at the moment and it would be a good thing for the club – because then we can sit down and plan for the future, knowing exactly where we are and what we are dealing with.

‘I believe they are trying to find an agreement, and I hope they do that as soon as possible. That would give us a clear picture for the future, and we can sit down and plan.’
