“Always said double figures”: West Ham’s Bowen sets himself lofty target for the season

|

Talk about setting yourself some high targets.

I think if he can hit that number, then we should be on for something rather special from him. I’m talking of course about Jarrod Bowen, who got himself up and running at the weekend with two goals against Wolves, and he is by no means finished yet.

The £20m+ man is always someone who has always found himself amongst the goals at whatever club he’s been at, and he’s hoping to continue that form over to his time at the London Stadium. Speaking after the game, Bowen talked about how many goals he is aiming to get this season, as he hopes to continue the trend he’s developed over the past few years:

“I’ve always said double figures.

I know it is going to be difficult in the Premier League this season but I believe I can score goals at this level. That is what I am going to aim for and if I keep performing the way I did last night I don’t think there’s any reason I can’t get there.”

Will Jarrod Bowen reach double figures this season?

Yes

Yes

No

It’s well known just how important Bowen is to West Ham United, and when it comes to attacking play he is arguably our most important player with the majority of the play likely to go through him. However, he isn’t going to be able to do it all on his own, he’s going to need help from elsewhere.

We had our main two players last year in the league when it came to goals in Michael Antonio and Sebastien Haller, and they’ll need to keep up that level of production if we are to take a step forward, especially if we can’t stop the leaky defence, they’ll need to bail us out more often than not.

Hopefully the rest of the team can set their ambitions as high as Bowen and we’re going to be fine.

What about you? What do you make of Bowen’s comments?
