Earlier in the week, the speculation was growing, as covered by our good selves, Click here, the Hammers were looking towards Rafael Benitez as the next manager of West Ham United.
But, a matter of days later, a new candidate is now being talked about as the incoming boss.
The good folk of the Evening Standard, are of the opinion that the board are looking at appointing the former Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini.
Pellegrini is currently in charge of the Chinese Super League club Hebei Fortune but is looking to make a return to Europe.
Our source goes on to imply that Pellegrini will meet up with officials representing West Ham in the coming days, whilst also going on to suggest sources in Chile are confident a deal can be struck.
During his managerial career, Pellegrini has been in charge of the Argentine side River Plate before moving to Europe to manage the likes of Villarreal, Real Madrid and Malaga before joining City in 2013.
His appointment, if it were to happen, would be a real coup for the Hammers and, delving into the world of social media, we find that the reaction to his possible signing is being well greeted, a typical example being:
Please be true!!!!

However, the pessimists amongst the Hammers support are probably well served by the tweet below:
Without a big pot of money to spend he will be no different . The club needs to tell fans what they are willing to spend

Here at Vital West Ham, we’ll reserve our judgement until we hear the outcome of the talks which could be very protracted.
