Yesterday, the news broke, as covered by Vital West Ham, Click Here, that Dimitri Payet was being linked with a possible sensational return to West Ham United Football Club.

Payet, as you are well aware, was a cult-hero at the club until he orchestrated his own departure, ensuring that hero status turned to one of being seen as a villain.

However, this sport of ours is renowned for its remarkable twists and turns and, on the back of the speculation that emerged yesterday, we’ve delved into the world of social media to see how the possible move was being received.

Naturally, the reaction was mixed, but we’ve plucked three tweets out of the hundreds available that just might bring a smile to your faces.

First up:

I guess the only way is to buy another.

But, as you’d expect, some people are seriously question the possible deal, with our second tweet summing it up perfectly:

But, with Payet having departed in such acrimonious circumstances, our last tweet comes up with a very valid point:

Exactly, West Ham needs a harmonious dressing room if they are to move forward, we can’t afford one bad apple, I say let any talk of such a deal drop and move on.

But is that a view you concur with or do you strongly disagree with my view?

  • Would be great to get him back but how can it be guaranteed that he won’t try the same nonsense again?
If there is any sense that it will harm team spirit the answer is don’t do it.

  • loved the comment about unburning a Payet shirt. Just imaging Payet Wilshere and Lanzini in midfield. I say take Payet back in an instant. If he apologises even better but we simply can’t reject a talent such as his; Paulo De Canio pushed over a ref and we forgave him.
