Whilst the fat lady isn’t quite signing yet when it comes to time at the London Stadium, it does very much feel like she’s starting to warm up her vocal chords.
At least that’s the way that noted West Ham social media presence @ExWHUemployee is putting it in their latest tweet. I’m talking of course about the situation surrounding Declan Rice. Reports are claiming that Chelsea will be making a firm offer for the 21-year-old in the next couple of days, which if it meets the board’s valuation, could put an end to speculation over his future that has been going on for some time now.
And speaking about his potential departure, @ExWHUemployee took to Twitter to claim that he wouldn’t hold it against him if he were to move, citing a number of factors, both professional and personal:
As much as Rice loves West Ham it’s obvious that he would be tempted by a Chelsea move. We haven’t delivered any hope of making progression as a club, they have shown their ambitions and his family are all big Chelsea fans. It will be a sad day but an understandable one ⚒ pic.twitter.com/hcp7gs1ZVU

Would you sell Rice this summer?
Yes
No
And to some extent I agree with him, there’s only so much a player like him can give to the club, as outlined in the club’s recent statement about him until it’s time for the club to give something back in return, and we haven’t held up our end of the bargain. And if selling him allows us to bring in plenty of income to build the rest of the squad with, it only seems fair that we as fans should let him go with our blessing.
At least with blessing towards him, the board on the other hand for creating a situation where he felt like he should go, is a different matter.
What about you? Would you be sad to see Rice go? Or would you understand why given the circumstances?
