West Ham have struggled for consistency so far this season, losing six of their opening 12 matches heading into this weekend’s stern clash against Premier League title favourites Manchester City.
Manuel Pellegrini splashed in excess of £100m during the summer transfer window to bolster his squad but further activity in the market is expected heading into the New Year, although departures may be required to raise funds.
One of the players linked with an exit is Michail Antonio, who has featured 10 times for the Hammers this season but only has one assist to his name – while competition from the likes of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko has reduced his standing within the squad.
Formerly a fan favourite, Antonio’s performances have dipped significantly in the past few years and many fans believe it is time for the 28-year-old to be offloaded – although they are surprised by the price the Hammers want.
With reports stating West Ham are seeking around £20m for Antonio, fans reacted with shock and shared their reactions on social media. We have gathered some of the best responses below.
£20m 😵😵😵 even in this day and age, he is worth about £10m and that is purely based on 2/3 seasons ago. Last 18 months/2 years, do well to get 5.
